VISUAL ARTIST & STREET PHOTOGRAPHER, WEST MIDLANDS

shopkeeper by komlaish achall

Komlaish Achall is an artist who explores the ambiguous, non-interpreted, triangle between being born a British Asian, being female and self. Using a variety of materials, photographic images, paint, collage and symbolic objects the work explores her personal perspective and journey, questioning self, the other, hybrid identities and location. The artwork seeks to capture multifaceted issues that clash and merge into an intricate undefined mixture, without fixed boundaries.

“We find ourselves in the moment of transit where time and space cross to produce complex figures of difference and identity, past and present, inside and outside, inclusion and exclusion.” – Homi K. Bhabha
